I'm walkin' through these spiderwebs.... When I saw today's theme for the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge was 'Delicate', I immediately thought of spiderwebs. I mean, what's more delicate than a spiderweb? I mean yes, spiderwebs are technically super strong, but they're so delicate LOOKING. They're also beautiful, until you're walking along and one hits you in the face and you have to live with the fact that you're never going to feel safe again. When Marilyn Monroe sang 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend', I don't think these are quite the diamonds that she had in mind...but I am in LOVE with them! Who doesn't love that scene in Scarface when Al Pacino has the desk covered in cocaine, and blasts the door to pieces in one huge bang! Amazing. Such a classic movie. Raise your hand if you remember the California Raisins! I know I sure do! Whether a cartoon or more of a claymation sort of animation, I totally loved those guys. I even remember the little plastic figurines–from McDonald's, right? Well, to satisfy the purple theme, I had a few things on my list, but nothing felt right. Chris suggested the California Raisins, and it made me chuckle, so I went for it. It's not my favorite nail art I've done, I kinda rushed it because I got caught up watching that 'Harley & the Davidsons' mini-series tonight from 7 pm until 11 pm. Whoops. I struggled with blue. I was having the hardest time thinking of something that would be fun and different, and my mind kept thinking of the blues. Who best represents the blues? None other than the legend–BB King! I discovered from this one that I need to keep working on my portrait painting skills! So today's prompt for nail art in the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge is Orange. Hmm. All day I wracked my brain, trying to think of all the orange things. Oranges? Carrots? Sunsets? Traffic cones? By the time a late dinner rolled around, I still hadn't thought of something that I wanted to do, and panic was about to set in. Then, all of the sudden, my wheels started turning. Carrot...Carrot top... GINGER! I figured it out- I was going to do GINGER nails! When I first saw these at Cosmoprof, I was so excited to try them–they have food plates, 80's plates, stone/marble print plates, drip/splatter plates, they even have an entire plate devoted to miss Mary Jane, and one that says 'Keep Calm and Kiss my Ass' with all different sorts of lip prints, which I, of course, purchased. Today's post is to talk about a couple of the plate styles that are available on Color4Nails.com– the Mustachios plate, the Thug Life plate, and the Wonderland plate.

Oh, the days of my youth...my teenage years awkwardly spent in the 90s with a strange and slightly unhealthy love of...vests. While the grunge movement only barely made it to the tiny town of 800 that I grew up in, I still appreciate the days of flannel shirts, combat boots, and Nirvana just as much as if I had participated in them myself. :) I'm loving the nostalgia that comes with Rebel, the latest collection from the color geniuses at China Glaze! The colors and finishes definitely evoke memories of the 90s, and are positively stunning even if you're too young to remember them!

I Did It!

Holy crap guys, I did it. I've always been absolutely horrible at water marbling, and I'm still no expert, but I managed to get 10 CLEAN designs on my nails without killing anyone. WOOT! I'm pretty pleased with myself right now. I definitely have a long way to go to even come close to the mad skills that some of you amazing ladies have, but I feel pretty happy right now!

I was totally abducted by aliens, and they replaced me with a pod person who never posted on my blog, the jerks. Luckily, I escaped, and I'm back!
