A Real Company Girl

Day 36

Today I had to work in my company's super secret innovations room in our booth at the Global Gaming Show. This explains a)why the post is so late today- no computer access b)why my nails have my company's logo and our most recognizable game symbol! <---The Blazing 7! :-P My company is Bally Technologies, we are a casino slot machine developer/manufacturer.

I used China Glaze Salsa for the base on the thumbs and sevens (and red in the flames), and China Glaze White on White as a base for the other fingers. I also used Zoya Pippa for the yellow in the flames, Sally Hanson Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in 06 Sun Kissed for the orange in the flames. I used Migi Nail Art Pens for the black outline. Everything was topped off with two coats of the amazing Seche Vite top coat.

Thank you, Panera Bread, for your lovely free internet service, without you, this wouldn't have gotten posted, because my internet sucks.

  5. You are getting attention as a blog of note. Maybe you could find a way to put a worthy charity on your nails? White with red crosses would be an obvious one but maybe you could come up with something that could promote a charity that you care about.

I really like what you are up to here. It is unique and fun.

  9. This is worst than yesterday, but denial is sometimes worst than a "all together justification". I reckon most people will only praise "this type art" because they TOO design as such. In all honesty Daily nail staff...seriously Princesses it's not good at all! I do nail art for a living, so I should KNOW. Here's how nail art should look....

Not as yours. If you all are going to GIVE a compliment to an artist, give one to a REAL one. Oh and for anyone who'll come at me with whining, "...it's feel good for you to HATE, doesn't it?" and "...you're so mean" remarks...examine that link first and YOU do the math. The proof of THIS type art is in the puddling. Anyone can design "a nail" but not all can ". design art"

  10. Karen - your nails were all lovely - you should start your own 365 days of professional nail design art....meanwhile we are enjoying this gals fun blog...guess if it is so difficult for you to see these nails I would eliminate your daily viewing.

  11. Karen,
The nails on your website are lovely but they are professionally done where as here is a normal gal with a job that is NOT designing nails, having a fun go at keeping her nails fun and creative. Not to mention more realistic for us everyday viewers who could never afford to get our nails done by a 'professional' as yourself, but can afford a pot of nailpolish or two and can benefit from this gals awesome ideas! keep it up the daily nail, you inspire me!

  12. Karen,
Please don't come here just to leave hateful comments. Everyone else is enjoying this blog because it is fun- I don't think the nail designs are intended to be like the ones in your link at all. If you don't like the blog, please don't ruin it for everyone else.

  13. thanks for the 411 on your company - cause I've long wondered who makes/tests the slot machines. I do system software testing and though slot machines might be a backup industry for me to consider

    love how these came out!

btw: are you painting on top of prior paintings or removing the old and applying the new every day? either way, how long (on average) do they take?

  17. Karen,

this will be the first and last time I address your comments.

My nails are real, and therefore, stuck to my hand, I cannot rotate my hand in any direction I want to get a perfect paint stroke, as can be done on the artificial nails on the link you sent. (which, BTW, wasn't even yours, it was Megumi Furukawa's) Furthermore, I have had no training, am an amateur, and have made no claims of being an amazing nail artist, nor have I said that it is my career. I am an amateur. I do this for fun, as a creative outlet. I did go to art school, I DO know art theory, and focused a lot on art history, etc. when I was in school. I also make my living as an artist, though not a nail artist. I do have respect for those that create the nails such as you posted, and though it is not something I would ever wear or do, it IS an art, and requires a lot of skill, practice, patience, and talent.

You are more than entitled to your opinion, and whether you choose to voice that on this blog or elsewhere, that is really of no concern to me, if it makes you feel good, then so be it, who am I to trample your spirit.

Like someone said in an earlier post though, if my art is so offensive to your obviously incredibly artistic, creative, cultured, and amazing eyes, please refrain from looking at it. Your negative comments bring down the spirit of this blog, and THAT is something that I'm not ok with.
