Go With the Flow-er

Man, I feel like I've lost my mojo. I hate 90% of the designs I've done lately, and that makes me SO sad. I'm not saying this to solicit sympathy, I'm saying it because I'm genuinely worried. lol  Designs that should be/usually are easy end up taking forever and looking like crapola. Anyway, today's nail art is simple, and was inspired by the cover of the journal/notebook that I write ideas and jot down my wish list, amongst other things.

I used Nubar Sexy Red as a base, with a mix of Orly Mirror, Mirror and American Apparel Hassid for the dark grey, and Orly Gumdrop for the flower's aqua center. For the white lines, I used Sally Hansen Professional Lavender Cloud. Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

  1. Creativity ebbs and flows, don't worry, yours will return in time. In the meantime, just keep doing your stuff! I look forward to seeing what you have to offer every night!

  2. Aw, girl...don't worry. Even DaVinci had creative blocks. It'll pass.

    Or else.

Jk, I was only jking about that part.
Anyway, I like this design. It reminds me of first graders in the 70's for some reason.

  3. I have been following your fascinating blog for a while now and my curiosity is getting the better of me, I just have to ask, are those your real nails? They are beautiful natural or fake. I am able to grow long natural nails, and I would love to polish my nails everyday to match my outfits, but I'm afraid using polish remover everyday will make them brittle. You are an inspiration to me!!!

  4. I know exactly what you feel, but I have to tell that it doesn't show through. Don't be harsh on yourself, it will come back =)
What you have done wasn't easy! =)

:) and everyone gets into a creative funk every once in a while. And while you might hate your designs- everyone else is eating them up :)

  7. We all get burned out from time-to-time. Even when it's your passion.....totally understandable.

  9. I think this mani is cool- I don't think you should be unhappy with it. It looks like Marimekko fabric from the 1960's. (or art from a Scandinavian children's book)
Don't fret about your mojo. You could take a little break for a while, certainly you deserve it; or perhaps go outside, look around you, then surround yourself with polishes, brushes, string, nail art pens, leaves, sequins, rocks, sand, sponges, cotton balls and glitter. Experiment like crazy, and make a big silly mess. No pressure. Guaranteed to make you feel better, at least. :D

  13. This is a neat design! And I've been feeling the same way about my own nails lately! I'll spend over an hour trying different designs, but just take it off again, then just end up with something really simple and kind of boring... but yours still look awesome! I'm jealous!

  14. It's true what someone else said; it doesn't show in your designs! I love them! Sometimes when you think something looks crappy to you it really inspires someone else ... they are gorgeous. Maybe you are bored with it ... I honestly don't know how you do it, you are fantastic!

I really like this design! It reminds me of arts and crafts time when i would make flowers out of pipe cleaners and buttons

  16. aaww! These are absolutely adorable. They're very classy. I've been trying soooo hard to stop picking my nails, as I want them to grow out eventually and look like yours! You're totally my inspiration. :) I wish I had more nail polish, so I could try some more designs, although I'm horrible at art, so I always end up messing up! :P I'm hoping sometime in the near future, I'll win one of your contests so I can win a pack of nail polish! I don't own any OPI or Orly...in fact, I only have the cheap types from Target...lol. Sorry to be relenting to you! I'll stop now, but I just wanted to let me know how aware of my nails you have let me become! :D
