LEGO My Eggo!
Sunday, November 7, 2010
Today's manicure is for my pal John. He is the biggest LEGO nerd I've ever met. EVER. When we used to work together, his entire cube had lego creations filling it! I've had this manicure on my list to do for ages and ages, so I decided that tonight was the night!!
I used Nubar Sexy Red for the thumb and index, Sally Hansen Professional Lavender Cloud for the middle finger, ALDO Sea You in Ibiza for the ring finger, and American Apparel Manila for the pinky. For the LEGO nubs things, I used Nubar Sexy Red mixed with American Apparel Hassid for the red LEGO, American Apparel Hassid mixed with Sally Hansen Professional Lavender Cloud for the white LEGO, ALDO Sea You In Ibiza mixed with American Apparel Hassid for the blue LEGO, and Zoya Jancyn for the yellow LEGO. To highlight them, I mixed each color with Sally Hansen Professional Lavender Cloud. For the logo on the thumb, I used Sally Hansen Professional Lavender Cloud, outlined with American Apparel Hassid, then outlined with American Apparel Manila. Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.
Also, since a lot of you expressed an interest in seeing a tutorial for What's the Mod-der, so you asked, I delivered! Hope you like it! :)

ReplyDeleteI adore you. Just when I think to myself "She can't possibly come up with another manicure that speaks to me on a personal level" you LEGO it up. You have just about done a manicure for every favorite thing I have (TrueBlood, xbox, nintendo, LEGO, french fries, the list goes on). I applaud you.

ReplyDeleteAnd looking at your Lego mani made my foot hurt-
it triggered a memory of walking around the house barefoot and stepping on a stray Lego block! OUCH!
A painful, yet beautifully rendered mani !

ReplyDeleteAwesome!! One of my students recently suggested that I glue Legos to my nails, since I put rhinestones on them, it's like the same thing, right? Lol. I like this design MUCH more than actual Legos glued to my nails :)

ReplyDeleteYour voice is so good to listen to (:

Amazing as always.
Cute lego nails. :) I'm glad you decided to do more designs. It would be quite awesome to see some tiger nails. :3 (Unless you have done them already).
ReplyDeleteLove the tutorial....and as soon as I heard you say "I'm really Macgyvering this shit up" I knew I was going to be coming back for the next one!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll do a Chococat look? Since you're not into pink I won't hold out hope for a hello kitty look, but maybe Chococat :)
OMG! As I am sitting here in front of my computer taking apart the very thing your nails are about! We are a part of the local Lego Users Group here in Salt Lake and actually are a part of a huge train show coming to town this weekend. My husband and a group of about 12 guys set up a huge Lego display for this train show and it is always a hit! I wish you could come to Salt Lake and do my nails before this weekend. Lego has over run my house!
ReplyDeleteLMFAO! Please do more tuts! Seeing how it is done thru a video makes it much easier. I loved it! Loved it when you said "I shake like a mo-fo" and "used my iphone taped to a bottle of acetone..macgyvering this shit up" LOL Keep it up girl! :)

ReplyDeleteGreat tutoring! This is too creative and quirky. Will definitely flaunt this with my little angels. They love Lego and can't wait to see them grin!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the tutorial! :) I have a few questions... do you/how do you clean off your dotting tool before changing colors (I've never used one before)? and do you wait and let the polish dry a bit before putting on the Seche Vite at the end (to avoid smudges), or do you put it on as soon as you're done with the design?
ReplyDeletethe tutorial was great!! and I love the lego-nails!!:D please do more tutorials!:DD
