Double Crossed

I was going through the apps on my iPhone earlier today looking for games to play to burn a few minutes of my day, and I stumbled upon a crossword app, and thought it might make a fun nail design. Mind you, I'm positively wretched at crossword puzzles. Give me Sudoku, Cryptograms, etc any day of the week, but crosswords? Never. I tried to incorporate some of my favorite brands of nail polish into the puzzle, but could only fit parts of some (I'm lookin' at you China Glaze).

I used Essie Bone Chilling White as a base, with American Apparel Hassid for the lines and filled in squares, and CND Anchor Blue for the pen/writing. Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Now who knows how to fix sewing machines??!!?

  1. ♥ it!

Sorry can;t help with the sewing machines.

  2. ha! it's funny you mention this because i got a crossword book last week DETERMINED to get better at crossword puzzles. progress is slow. love the nails!

  3. Great mani! I used to do the NY Times puzzle everyday with a group of coworkers.

I've purchased a few old sewing machines and refurbished them but that mostly consisted of cleaning and oiling them. I'm no expert. What's the problem?

  4. so nice!
when will start the voting for that contest with home theme?

  5. Oh my goodness, that's ADORABLE!! I have no idea how you come up with these, seriously. But I'm certainly glad you do!

  6. wow. that is really cute xoxox

  7. Mel, you are really amazing. seriously! i love it!!! and i miss your face and all the crazy shit we used to do at SZ. did you hear about Jordan? how exciting! anyways, i hope to see you there.

  8. Might have to take your sewing machine to a sewing machine dealer to have it fixed. They can be tricky!

  9. That is so cool!!! Thanks for sharing!!

  10. Love the "nail" and "art" on the thumb!!! Thank you for all the inspiration you provide! I did birthday nails similar to yours, and got so many compliments!!

  11. Yay!! Crossword puzzle nails!!! Yay!!! Thank you for doing these Ms. Daily Nail!!!
And to the New York Times Crossword Puzzle: I love you. And I hate you. I love you-I hate you-I love you- well, you get the drift.
(I think I need to know more about this Will Shortz fella...)
As for the fixing of sewing machines, if there is a Hancock Fabrics out there, they usually have someone who fixes machines in the store once a week. If not, find any fabric store and ask the staff- they almost certainly will know someone.

Go on, comment... you know you want to. ;-P
