Lady Liberty
Sunday, July 4, 2010
So the day celebrating our freedom is upon us, July 4, the 4th of July, Independence Day. I hope that today while you were having your hot dogs, drinking your beers, and spending time with family and friends, that you thought of those fighting and risking their lives to afford us the freedoms that we so often take for granted. For today's nails, I did good ole' Lady Liberty herself, otherwise known as The Statue of Liberty. Now, I have to say that I'm not very happy with how these turned out, because I was rushing, and I really didn't have time to redo them, so I hope that they're alright!
I used Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud as a base, with China Glaze Salsa for the red stripes of the flag, Pure Ice French Kiss for the blue of the flag, American Apparel Hassid for the flag outline, Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud as a base for the statue, topped with OPI Damone Roberts 1968, and shaded with a mixture of OPI Damone Roberts 1968 and Nubar Forest. Topped everything off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.
And, since it's the 4th of July, the neighbors were shooting off mortars, sooooo you get firework pictures!! :)
BOOM!

I think the nails still turned out great :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really jealous that you got to see fireworks, it was raining like crazy here in Colorado and the shows around me were canceled...super lame :(
You are an artist! I didn´t notice your rush...
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome mani! That you were rushing doesn't show at all :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had half of your talent!!

Oooh, very nice!! I wish I could paint as well as you do. Maybe one day, yes? :D
ReplyDeleteMy neighborhood goes crazy every year with fireworks. (They just stopped an hour or so ago, around 1am!!) They'll be shooting fireworks for the next week or so, so I might go out and try and capture some photos as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
Way better than mine. I did Essie Midnight Cami (shimmery navy) on my thumbs and used Stripe Rite in white to make some 6 or 8 pointed astericks and called them Stars and then just painted my fingers with ChG Salsa and striped them with the white. I can definitely say that nail art is not my strong point.lol
ReplyDeleteA-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
ReplyDeleteThose are soo good!! They look amazing, I couldn't tell they were rushed!
ReplyDelete-Dana :)
those are really cool!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Do you also paint your other hand in the same design? I have a hard time just putting on a plain coat of polish on my "other" hand without making a mess!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose look amazing!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you have won the Sunshine Award!
Congrats :D
That's so cool, I especially like the thumb, more area to paint on, you can see more flag. Awesome! Most people would just do fireworks, this is different.
ReplyDeleteLove the nails!
ReplyDeleteIdea: you should do Futurama-themed nails!!! ;-)
Pretty nails! Can you teach me? *-*
ReplyDeleteso beautifull !!!
