My Hands are Tied.

Day 56

First off, I'm going to say that I love most of what came out of the 60's and 70's. I love the music, the art, the styles, etc, and tie dye!! (even though I never wear it!! ;-P) :) So today's nails are my interpretation of the fashion fad that we all know, and love or loathe. :-P

I used China Glaze White on White as a base, with China Glaze Salsa for the red, Zoya Paz for the orange, Zoya Pippa for the yellow, Zoya Midori for the green, Zoya Tallulah for the blue, and Kleancolor Neon Purple for the purple. Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat, as per my custom. :-P

Far Out.

  3. Jen C- thanks! just bought a 2-pack of stretchy gloves from Target for $1.50 and cute 1/2" from the tips. I call it hobo-chic. :-P (the office I work in is SUPER cold)

    Anon-totally groovy, mannnnn :-P thanks!

  4. ^^ I did the EXACT same thing - got 2 pairs of gloves for 1.50 at Target (black and black and white stripe) and cut the fingers off... I call mine my Hobo Gloves. They're nice because I can stil polish, use the computer, and read (I'm an English grad student so I do a lot of the latter). LOVE this design. You're so creative!!

  5. I love, love this project of yours. It's so fun and so creative! I'd love to hear more, each day, about how you get the design. Sometimes you mention pens and plates you use, but what else? And where do you get your inspiration?

  6. Thanks guys!

Brooke- great minds think alike!! :-P

Autumn- i mainly use brushes for the stuff I paint- either fine-bristled art brushes from Michaels ($3), or a nail art brush from Sally that I got ($3). Inspiration comes from all over, from my interests (culinary, nostalgia, art, etc), from the world around me - like the bricks, etc, and from readers that email me with ideas! :) Most of the time I don't know what I'm going to paint until I sit down to paint! I have a list for the days when I'm blocked, but otherwise, its pretty random.

  7. So did you use art brushes here? They seem very thin to have been used with the normal brush that comes with polishes.

  12. Those are adorable. I went through this phase when I was 13 where I wore tie dye like, all the time (I'm pretty sure I was annoying). Your nails bring up fond memories. :D

  16. Tie dyed lots of T-shirts in the 70's, with 3 daughters to clothe my mom thought plain white T's and some liquid dyes was a thrifty way to go! But there was no B.O. involved Mr. A$$. LOL.

Beautiful nails M. Once I catch up I'm going to go check out those marbling tutes on YT.
