Day 51
Hi all! Today's nails are painted with the subject of thousands of tattoos, pieces of art, and have even been recreated using hundreds of thousands of pieces of hand-painted popcorn in the recent movie Coraline....Cherry Blossoms! Reader Nicole sent in some awesome ideas, and along with it, some fun pictures of stuff she'd done, one of which was cherry blossoms, which totally inspired me to do these!! Thanks Nicole!
I used OPI La-Pazitively Hot matte as a base, with a thin layer of Zoya Stephanieover top to tone down the hot pink. For the branches, I used Zoya Angelina, and for the blossoms I used China Glaze White on White and dry brushed a little of the OPI La-Pazitively Hot matte in the centers. Topped off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.
Thanks again Nicole! :)

pretty - pretty
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! I've been meaning to do something similar, but I need more and finer brushes first.
ReplyDeletethanks!!
ReplyDeleteCucumpear- I just use the fine bristled art brushes from the craft store- they're about $3 USD. $1.80 when I have a 40% coupon, which I usually try to. (Im cheap!)
Ahhh, makes me long for Spring! Perfect, as it's really cold, gray, and rainy where I am, so this takes me somewhere better, even if only for a minute. I am definitely going to try to recreate this one in the dead of winter. A vacation on the nails!
ReplyDelete(ohhh, another idea...?)
These ARE awesome! You did a great job :) Glad you liked my idea!
ReplyDeleteI really like these!! Probably the prettiest yet.
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable. Reminds me of the Sakura festival at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! those are awsome nails! I would do something like that but i don't have he time.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! You should check out Asami's version too: http://nailsbyasami.blogspot.com/2009/11/cherry-blossoms.html
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and Japanese =)
ReplyDeleteThat is really pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteI've become a daily reader on here! I absolutely LOVE what you do to your nails and, being one of those people who never does her nails, I'm inspired to do something! However, I noticed that some of your nail polishes and nail art pens are a little on the pricey side...for me...so I was wondering if you had any tips on cheap art pens or nail polishes that still work well? Thanks!
ReplyDeletelove love love it!
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty!! Will you be doing any Christmas themed nails?
ReplyDeleteOMG! You are so awesome! Cherry blossoms are so beautiful! Great ideas!
ReplyDeletethis is pretty...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad everyone liked these, I got a lot of comments IRL, too!! I usually don't tend to use the 'girly' colors, but I really liked how these turned out! :)
ReplyDeleteTabula Rasa- those are really pretty! it looks like she uses regular craft paint vs nail polish, might have to try that!
Anonymous- I'm flattered that I've inspired you to try some stuff out on your nails!! Some great inexpensive options are Pure Ice, which can be bought at walmart for $2, Sinful Colors $2 at Walgreens, Sally Girl mini polishes from Sally Beauty supply rock, too- they're 99¢ and since they're small, you don't have to commit to one for long... :-P Check out Wet Seal if you have one near you as well, they have their Urban Vibe polishes for $1 and 1¢ for the second one right now.. thats 50¢ a polish- and they're actually pretty decent! As for nail pens, most are kinda pricey, unfortunately. I got my migi nail art pens on Ebay, the set of 8 was $23, but you can order refills for free- just pay shipping ($2.99 for 2) Instead of art pens, consider investing in nail art brushes- $3 at Sally for a fine tipped one, or $3 at Michaels for a similar brush, or $1.80 if you use one of their 40∞ off coupons you can google for. Hope this helps!!
Lizzie- most definitely- but don't want to start too early, probably will start around the 19th or 20th.
Your designs are ridiculously good and totally unique! Your craftsmanship is also beautiful. I wish I was this talented!!!
ReplyDeleteWOOOoooooHHHH
ReplyDeleteIt woulda been a lot cooler if this was the cast from Blossom...
