'Gildy' Pleasures

Day 49

Today's nails are kind of different than what I usually do, they are embellished by gilding them rather than painting designs. I used gold leaf for the effect, I crumpled up little pieces and gently placed on wet polish, and then let dry, and used my finger to brush of the excess that was sticking up.

I used Nubar Peacock Feathers as a base, which is one of the most gorgeous colors- the picture doesn't capture all the colors that it flashes, teals, greens, blues, purples! It's truly beautiful. I used gold leaf for the gold, which you can find at any craft store. Topped it off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat as usual. :)

What are some of your 'gildy' pleasures?

  7. This design gave me an idea to suggest (mainly because I'm a nerd.) World of Warcraft nails. Gildy- guild- whatever. You could do alliance things on one hand and horde on the other. As always, your nails are totally amazing- hard to imagine that you do them yourself.

  8. Really gorgeous with the Peacock Feathers as a base- I'll bet that was a real knockout in the flesh! I'll bet the gold leaf would also look cool with something like NUBAR Cotton Candy! (or even Nubar Indigo Illusion)
Okay, I've got a few suggestions for you, the first of which is because I'm coming off of my "Turkey Day Food High", and am jonesing for sugar- how 'bout... cupcakes?
And then, having nothing to do with food, but seeing how nicely you did snakeskin, how about frog or lizard; or perhaps fur? Or maybe stones- turquoise, jasper or agate? (Just hoping to inspire you like you inspire us! )
Keep up the great work! SO much fun to check! YAY!

  9. Thanks everyone!!

dax attacks- if you click on the nail of the color in my post, it takes you to where you can buy it, I do that with all of them! :)

Anonymous- Thanks- Peacock Feathers is a gorgeous color, better than I imagined! I haven't seen Cotton Candy, but I got a lot of the other duos from Nubar, Purple Beach, Nature, etc. I totally have cupcakes on the list, maybe I'll do them soon! It might be neat to do some of those poisonous frogs from the rainforest- they always have such amazing colors! As for the stones, that's an interesting idea, I have an inkling of how I might do it, but not totally sure, but I like it. :)
