Vosges Visage

I've made it no secret…I LOVE chocolate. Love. IT. I like it dark, milk, white (which isn't really chocolate), filled with caramel, with nougat, with nuts, with peanut butter, BACON?!?!?!, even with coconut, which I hate in any other situation. Anyway, to the point, I get a catalog from a lovely chocolatier called Vosges from time to time, and besides the fact that their chocolate is amazing (seriously, try Mo's Bacon Bar in Milk Chocolate, it will change your life), the art on the Easter catalog was awesome, and I've kept that catalog for months in anticipation that I would do nail art based on the cover illustration one day…and today is that day… :-P

The inspiration

The nails

I used American Apparel Cotton as a base, with MAC Showy for the line work, Orly Pink Chocolate (perfect right?!) for the pink, American Apparel Palm springs as the peach color on the index finger, OPI Who the Shrek Are You? for the lighter green color seen on the thumb and cuticle edge of the middle finger, and Nubar Green Tea for the leaves on the middle finger. I topped everything off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat to give it a tempered chocolate-like sheen and strength. ;)

  1. Tres chic! I'm glad you didn't make them look like chocolate. That would make me want to nibble at my nails all day. Don't ever want to start that again.

  6. I tried their bacon bar with milk chocolate. I went into convulsive laughter as it was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted in my life!! (to be fair, I think it's actually the smoked sea salt that was repulsive)

  7. white chocolate is, in fact, chocolate!

the innards of the pod are separated into two parts: the powder and the butter. the powder is used for the darker chocolatey chocolate stuff.

the butter is used for, well, cocoa butter (good for your nails!) ... but they add milk and sugar to some of the rest and get white chocolate.

it's literally the fat from the cocoa pod. so all the chocolate babies (white, brown, dark, light, milk, etc) all come from the same cocoa pods ... therefore, all real chocolate!

(i volunteered at a conservatory one afternoon and this was my spiel for HOURS! i tried to condense ...)

ReaderRita- Mmmm- I love all of the chocolates there that I've had! I even got my dad the Sugar-Free Red Fire bar around Christmas because he loves spicy but can't have sugar, and he liked it, too!

Anonymous- thanks! Glad you like it! :)

Leenadll- Yer crazy!! lol I love that bar- the salty smokiness of the bacon and salt make the chocolate sing!! To each his/her own though, I suppose. :)

krissy- the FDA might say so, but to me, chocolate needs to have cocoa liquor in it to be chocolate, and lemme tell ya- the darker the better. ;)

And I agree with your last post... I'm here in Vegas too, and it's so hot, but today it was something like 108 F! I made sun tea, though, so it's all good.
