Dia de los Homer

November is upon us again, and with it comes Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Sugar skull imagery has popped up everywhere in recent years, tattoos, makeup, art, you name it. I adore the DOTD art, it's all pretty much awesome.

This year, instead of doing a typical sugar skull, I wanted to do a little bit of a different twist on it, so I did my dog Homer in the Dia de los Muertos style, and I'm super pleased with how he turned out. (He approved too...he even sat in the chair with me and supervised! :-P) I decided to give him a gold tooth, I think it makes him look more bad-ass. :D

Do you think the gold tooth is funny? Let me know in the comments below! :D

Skull Appreciation Day!

Did you know that June 4 is Skull Appreciation Day?! In 2011, to commemorate the beginning of the 5th year of the Skull-A-Day website, which was created by Noah Scalin in 2007, the editors decided to proclaim June 4 as international Skull Appreciation Day! As a lover of skulls (hey, I adore mine, it protects my brain), I decided to celebrate Skull Appreciation Day by painting my nails! (Is there any other way?)

I painted the Skull Appreciation Day LOVE logo on my thumb, and then broke it down so each letter was on a separate nail (thank God it was only 4 letters long, or I'd need to be polydactyl!).

I used

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On - base
Nicole by OPI Redy to Runaway Love
Seche Vite topcoat

How are YOU celebrating?!
