As I'm sure most of you know (if you're from the the US or not), tomorrow is Election Day! Of course I had to do presidential nails for the occasion! I know that the topic of politics is a hot button issue these days, and this post is my nail art in support of President Barack Obama! Living outside the US this past year, I have gotten a better hold on what others think of the US, its people, and our president, and it's pretty clear to me who they want.
Side note, my nails are more nubbiny now, I broke my thumbnail after accidentally 'scoring' it with a paring knife while cooking. Ironic that it happened the same day Katherine of Manicure Addict commented that my nails were getting really long! lol
Who are you voting for? Tell me in the comments! (Please be respectful. Rude comments will not be published. Thanks for being adults! :D)
White: American Apparel T-Shirt
Red: American Apparel Downtown LA
Blue: Pure Ice French Kiss
Red Glitter: Milani Red Sparkle
Blue Glitter: Milani Blue Flash
Basecoat: Cult Nails Get it On
Topcoat: Seche Vite + Cult Nails Wicked Fast
This is super cute!
ReplyDeletethank you! :)
DeleteI'm voting for Mitt Romney. Being a former MA resident I've voted for him before. It's deja vu looking at the ballot because Jill Stein was on the ballot last time too :O
ReplyDeleteJust a giant LIKE!
ReplyDelete:-P
DeleteWon't be viewing your blog anymore. I believe in free speech, and we'll see if you do by whether or not you leave my comment here, but I don't want to hear about your politics.
ReplyDeleteJen
Hi Jen,
DeleteI'm sorry you feel that way. I consider the post I did the equivalent of posting an Obama sign in my front yard. It wasn't meant to be preachy, I was simply showing my support for the candidate that I choose. I didn't say anything derogatory about Romney or anyone else, I was simply showing my support, which luckily in our country is something that we are allowed to do! :)
As for whether or not I would post your comment? Why wouldn't I? The only comments that don't make it through my filter are spam and rude/immature comments.
Sorry to lose you on the blog.
I love the "I believe in free speech but how dare you say who you're voting for on your on blog". Ha

This is fabulous! And I will absolutely continue to read your blog!!!
ReplyDeleteRR
I'm English but if I was American I would 100% vote for Obama, and I'm not uneducated on the candidates, I've done hours of background reading and see the debates etc, it's just my belief, and I think you're perfectly entitled to express yours. I will of course continue reading your wonderful blog
ReplyDeleteAlice
I'm an Obama girl myself but most of the people I know are voting for Romney. Makes for interesting yet paingul conversations. People are really passionate this year. I am really, really looking forward to an end to the political ads and bashing.
ReplyDeleteI applaud your for the manicure and that you're not afraid to post it. Some people just are not tolerant enough to accept that someone else does not share their views.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I am not US citizen, I'm from Europe and as such I am not exposed to presidential campaigns and media massage. I choose to read facts about your presidential candidates and what stands out for me is that voting Obama wil not make your lives worse. But voting for Romney would. As a woman I want to have the choice to keep a baby and I want to have the choice to use contraception. Romney does not share my views/rights and that's a fact. You might think - you live in Europe, how does our president affects you? Well it does affect the whole world who is the US president especially when wars can be led. I'm just trying to voice my worries about Romney beign president as I can't vote but please people, just read alternative online media, don't believe campaigns and TV. Read articles after each debate and how Romney lies almost in everything he says about Obama! Don't be sheep
This is awesome! I'm Canadian and I really hope Obama wins :) I actually really like that you posted this in support of who you would vote for!
ReplyDeleteYou post a picture of your nails and an opinion on here each day, as is the format of your blog. I see no reason for this to be limited to non-political issues; just as Anon has the right to free speech, so do you.
ReplyDeleteHowever, everyone views things differently, and although I can't see how today's post is offensive as you don't attempt to color your reader's views, I'm sure there is some logic behind what Anon says. In any case, I too am voting for Obama, and I adore this design!
Forever a reader of this blog - wonderful.
I think this is a lovely and creative moonicure. I don't think I ever would have thought to add the political logos like that, they are the perfect moons.
ReplyDeleteHey, all I can say for your political choice is HEY! You made one! Taking part in our elections is our right and responsibility. I hope you got your absentee ballot in. Whether or not I agree with your political stance, supporting the effort to vote and stay involved in our country's direction is important!
Plus. You know. Super cute nails. :D
Going against the grain here, and stating that I think Gary Johnson is the one to vote for. Not many people know that there are other candidates beyond Romney and Obama. I think if most people looked at where Gary Johnson stands on the issues, they would be in line with him.
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeleteFree speech and free elections! I'm Danish, but I would definitely vote for Obama, if I had the chance.
ReplyDeleteGreat nails! Glad you are supporting your pick. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the mani and I'm an Obama woman myself!! I think it is fine that you post your Obama mani on your blog!! You have not bombarded us with political posts and you did not post anything negative about Romney so I think this is great! Good for you!!! I'll always read and thanks for posting your nails for us!!!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the nails today I was like they're shorter!! I've been enjoying my shorter nails, but then again whatever nails i have i seem to like so it don't matter to me.
ReplyDeleteI believe in free speech but when others do it and I don't like it I become an Ass? We may not all agree on the same thing but that doesn't give people a pass to be rude.
Thanks for the mention :) !!!
I must admit, one of the best things about all elections is that they are a secret ballot. I do not have to tell anyone who or who I am not voting for.
ReplyDeleteI am not offended in any way/shape/form from you post. You have a right to express your opinion. I do not care what your opinion is, but you have a right to express it.
I think with politics it is very hard to stay neutral and "unbiased" because BOTH sides lie. BOth sides have bad points just as BOTH sides have good points.
I am not angry that you posted this. You have the freedom of speech, but in the future please try to leave politics out of it. I came for the nail art, not the politics.
ReplyDeleteI love the logo! If only I were so talented. My post yesterday was just swatches of the Obama Campaign polishes...and I was kind of waiting for the comments to pour in. I retweeted something from a Democratic Senate candidate and was twitter-assaulted by people I've never met or heard of telling me I was an idiot. Guess we'll see, huh?
ReplyDeleteI love the logo! If only I were so talented. I posted the Obama Campaign nail polishes yesterday and I've been waiting for some backlash. I'm sorry to see some people so intolerant of another's politics that they would stop enjoying a mutual hobby together. Seems a little over-the-top to me.
ReplyDeleteI would like to think that if I believed differently than you it would not change my (immensely gleeful) enjoyment of your blog. You did not push your agenda or try to make people feel less than you for believing differently. It's strange... I have a lot of friends who live in other countries and from what I've been hearing, most of them are sharing the sentiment that their countries favor Obama. I'm not sure I believe either man has the capability to destroy our country, but it's just interesting hearing the opinions of those who have nothing riding on this election.
ReplyDeleteYou still have very beautiful nails to work with! My nails are super duper nubby! I can't get them to grow.
ReplyDeletevery nice!! and i had similar experiences with obama love abroad as well!
ReplyDeleteI hate when I enjoy someone's nail art and they get into politics. Very tacky.
ReplyDeleteLove This!! Don't Worry About The Haters
ReplyDeleteI love it! Very nice ツ
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope you haven't posted this week because your Diwali has been so incredible and inspiring and NOT because of last week's weather. We want to hear ALL about the festival of lights! (Sweets nails? Lights nails? I'm sure you've got something fabulous cooked up...)
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well.
ReaderRita
Love the nails AND the courage! Your post was tasteful and fun!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, come back to us! We miss your lovely posts!
ReplyDeleteBoggling how many people think you aren't allowed to express an opinion on your own blog. How 'tacky'.
ReplyDeleteI'd post a pic of mine, but I'm not sure how.
