Gelish Matadora 2017 Collection Swatches

Press Sample

Matadora, Spanish inspired, Morgan Taylor, Gelish

Now that Summer has officially started, I am 100% ready for fall. Fall has always been my favorite season...I love the colors, the smells, and most of all, the temperature. We're positively melting here in Vegas–on Tuesday it was 118º, so it's no wonder that I am looking forward to fall! I'm not sure why I chose Las Vegas as my home, I've always hated the heat, and this place is B-R-U-T-A-L.

In hopes of speeding autumn my way, I have the Gelish Matadora collection for fall to show you today! This collection will be available in August, and you're definitely going to want to pick up this Spanish inspired color set! Hit the jump for swatches!

I'm Drawing a Blanco

Icy white shimmer with iridescent micro flakes

Soon I'll be posting the Morgan Taylor version of this collection, and you'll see that the MT counterpart to this color is super different from this one, and I'll admit, I much prefer this version because it's more sparkly versus the frostiness of the Morgan Taylor one. I DO feel like this color reads more winter than fall, but I'm not complaining, it's a pretty color! My only qualm about this polish is that I still see a VNL (Visible Nail Line) after 2 coats, and while I'd just add another coat with polish, with gel it gets too thick.

Opacity scale (1-5): 2

Finish: Shimmer, 2+ coats to be opaque

Matadora, Spanish inspired, Morgan Taylor, Gelish, Mauve Your Feet

Mauve Your Feet

Dusty mauve creme

To be honest, I didn't really think I'd like this one, but it's actually one of my favorites of the collection. I think I like it because I love how it looks with my skin tone, and I think it would be an amazing 'palate cleanser'. It also one of those polishes that would be great for the office, for those of you that have restrictions on what you're allowed to wear.

Opacity scale (1-5): 3.5

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Matadora, Spanish inspired, Morgan Taylor, Gelish, Don't Break My Corazón

Don't Break My Corazón

Orange-tinged Spanish red

Looking for a great warm red? This one is definitely one that won't break your corazón, because it's perfect! It's bright without being too bright, and I love the warmth of it. It's definitely muy caliente!

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Matadora, Spanish inspired, Morgan Taylor, Gelish, All Tango-d Up

All Tango-d Up

Deep juicy burgundy creme

Oooh, a great fall color! I feel like this one is the color in the collection that should be named Danced and Sang-ria though, since it reminds me of a delicious glass of sweet red sangria.

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Danced and Sang-ria

Deep plummy creme

This one is deep, dark, vampy goodness. It's a plum so deep that it's almost black, and I totally dig it. I feel like this is one of those colors that would look especially amazing on short nails. What is it about short nails and dark, vampy colors? They go together so darn well! :). I DO love this color though.

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Creme, 2 coats to be opaque

Olé My Way

Midnight Blue Shimmer

This one is another dark, deep color, which I love. The blue shimmer in this is gorgeous when the light hits it.

Opacity scale (1-5): 3

Finish: Shimmer, 2 coats to be opaque

[FINAL THOUGHTS]

I love the pops of red in this collection, and I can definitely see some of the Spanish inspiration. My favorites are Mauve Your Feet and Dance and Sang-ria, and while all the colors in the collection are pretty, I'll be honest, I don't feel like most of them are terribly unique. However, that doesn't mean they're not great colors that would be awesome to add to your collection, especially if you don't have gel versions!

You can find Gelish MINI gel polishes at SallyBeauty.com starting in August for $12.99 a bottle.
