HalloWEDNESDAY! I Broke the Mold

Have you noticed that all my Halloween posts have been grotesque or creepy? Today is no different, I've got moldy, mossy, nasty nail art for you today! Only one more HalloWEDNESDAY left, and that will be Halloween, so I have to think of something extra wicked. (In more ways than one!) What do you guys think of the creepy nail art? Are you more of a creepy/gross nail art fan or do you prefer the cutesy/fun kind?

The design I came up with for today utilizes flocking powder, and actually benefits from the staining on my nails. (YES, I use basecoat EVERY time I paint my nails, not sure why they stain so badly!) They were most recently stained by Zoya Kimber, which I used in my BCA design. That polish is actually pretty gorgeous, but man did it stain! (worth it!!)

Would you wear this design? Tell me why or why not in the comments!

Tutorial to come! :)

Broke the Mold - FULL

Broke the Mold - FINGERS

Broke the Mold - THUMB

I used:

Olive Green: Zoya Dree
Dark Green: Zoya Envy
Green flocking powder

Check out this cool moth that was hangin' out by the fluorescent light outside!

  3. I love the effect of these creepy/gross ones, but I don't think I'd be able to wear them for very long before getting too grossed out :P

  5. OMG awesome idea of using flocking powder for this! It seems like something that would go great with your Ogre mani. I wouldn't mind wearing it since its all for fun :D

  8. I enjoy seeing well executed nails be it gross or cute or fun. I'm really enjoying seeing you coming up with creepy/gross designs! And yeah, my nails are stained too, despite using base coat all the time. Which base coat did you use?

I probably won't wear this design. Because it's not quite hitting the "gross" levels. But I thought this would be nice to include rotting gooey dead bodies =/ That'd be so gross.. lol.

On a side note, aik? I thought moths rests with wings spread. Maybe that's a brown butterfly?

  9. Ewww, they look like grass stains. Like you were clawing your way out of the ground from the grave! Sooo, good job.

  10. I am not a big Halloween fan and we don't celebrate it here in our town, but I know one thing I love all your creative and original Halloween designs and this one is amazing too, very creepy :) I am anxious for the tutorial!

  11. I'd never wear something like that (or any other gross Halloween look, or any other thing with flocking powder) but it's still -very- cool to watch on pics (of other people's nails :P)

  14. This is VERY cool and way to go, finding a way to use a stained nail. I actually think I'd wear this with a zombie costume! I like your peeling flesh nails but they're more of a "zombie in a nail" than nails to go with a zombie getup, in my humble opinion. I love how this mani looks like the nails are getting ready to just fall off... I think they'd be what zombie nails would look like after several months of 'afterlife'.

    Awesome. :D

  15. Nope would not wear it - like looking at it - texture is interesting. It's remiding me of some of the costumes I helped create for a travling stage company production of CATS. But I am pretty classic when it comes to my polish and I don't ever wear anything more than maybe a black or orange polish for Halloween - I am not big on costume or Halloween - odd as it's my b'day and totally time for me to parT - but if I do - it's only the one night and I don't want to dress up or decorate for weeks around it..I know I am in a minority here totally as Halloween is in the US< the most 'selling' decoration celebration time after Christmas. I have had fun looing at all the great creative nail art being done for Halloween.

  16. haha...well, while i truly do admire your creativity and ability to think outside the box, i must admit that i enjoy the cute manicures more. but it's just personal. absolutely nothing wrong with the gross stuff, just not my style. so i'll just fight my gag reflexes and patiently await your next awesome post :D

  19. I would wear this for halloween because it's that shade of green which I relate to disgusting (don't know why cause I love green).

By the way, I've found out that my nail polishes stain when I apply a certain cream to my cuticle cuts (I don't know how to call them in English).

    Love your blog!

  20. Seriously, I love your horror makeup manicures - I would wear this if I was doing like a fairy or gnome or witch for halloween - and what the heck, I'd do this for a day IRL for fun, I dig extreme stuff! ;) Just a day tho, because I'm terrible with picking at anything not smooth on my nails, so the fuzz would be driving my fingers crazy by then ;)

u ever think of putting your horror makeup manicures onto press-on nails and selling them? they'd be perfect for halloween, and seriously, they are like makeup-artist quality. I'm floored by them :)

  21. Interesting effect for halloween

  22. I would absolutely wear them, they fill in all the characteristics of a good Halloween nailart: gross, grotesque, artistic, somehow disturbing but chic.
Also I think they would make Stephen King (my heroe) smile :)
