  1. These people sooo did not deserve to win.

  2. Uhm, it wasn't based on skill, so what's the problem?

  3. The blue marbled is super pretty!!

  4. Wow that blue one is amazing! I've tried doing that and it didn't come out nearly as good. I think it was because my colors were too light and too glittery.

  5. Well darn, I didn't even see this contest!

  6. In case anyone's wondering, I did the blue marble using Essie's Midnight Cami :)

  10. The blue and purple are both really awesome, though I think doing fake nails is much much easier. I feel like you can just get a new nail if you mess one up instead of doing it all over from the base coat and everything, you can turn them any which way to paint little details, and you can't mess them up when they're finished. Instead of getting sheet marks and stuff, you just set them on the table. They really are gorgeous though.

  13. Everyone, I ask that you please be considerate to those that took the time to enter the contest, regardless of skill level, this giveaway was to get people to TRY stuff that they might not otherwise do.

How would you feel if you look the time and put forth the effort to make a submission only to read that you didn't deserve to win.

  14. Yay Daily Nail! Everyone has to start somewhere - as for me - -painting a smooth single color is a major accomplishment! I think it is great you encouraged people to try their hand (no pun intended) at this fun nail design contest. Can't wait to see some more of the entries :) Keep up the good work - I love it..

  15. I still think that this should be based on skill, what about the people who put forth totally amazing designs only to see that it was a poorly done, relatively bad looking set of nails that won first place. Honestly 2nd and 3rd place are far better than the 1st place winner. In an actual contest they wouldnt win because they tried or that it was random, highly skilled, artistic people would win not the opposite.

  16. Anon- that's the point, this contest wasn't like other contests. It was to encourage people out of their comfort zone, to try something they didn't think they could do. Remember, no one becomes highly skilled without practice.

And furthermore, I think it is extraordinarily rude to deem the winner's nail undeserving because YOU don't think they were good enough. My thought is yes, they weren't perfect, but you know what? She tried, and that's more than someone can say for you.

  17. Well said. The point of this contest was to try. It was never stated that it was to be based on skill, lets all just accept that and congratulate the winners who's wins shouldn't be tainted by a few sore losers.

  18. I have a question about the contest! Do you have to be a follower to enter them? Because I don't have a blog but I'm on your blog daily :)

  19. i figured with the colors it was something christmas-y. and even if the nails don't look perfect, she tried and the colors look nice. if nothing else, she did a good job photographing them! at least you can clearly see the design.

  20. I love the package nails submitted by Susan H! Those are verrry cute =]

  21. wow, those converse shoes one by francesca [?] are awesome!

  22. She tried, and thats more than someone can say for you.

How do you know i didnt try? hmmm? How do you know i didnt enter?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Because if you had, you'd have read and understood the point of the contest.

  24. I didnt enter but, if i did i wouldnt feel as accoplished if i won by random drawing as if i won by judging. I wouldnt feel like i did the best job, but thats just my perspective. I was a nice try on everyone's part!

  25. I understand your point, but the point of the contest was to get people out of their little boxes, and to try something new, and most people aren't award-worthy when they just start something, and I didn't want people to figure "Why bother, I'm not amazing at nail art, I don't have a chance of winning anyway, so why waste the time trying?"

    ReplyDelete
  26. And i see where you're coming from, but its just my opinion that i wouldnt really feel like a true winner. Like a lotto ticket, you just won because it was luck of the draw...

  27. I love the penguins by Jansine

  28. Are there gonna be more contests?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks AL MacD! And.. I agree, that was rude to say that people didn't deserve to win. That's not even what the contest was about! Anyways.. I love the daily nail. Inspired me to do so much with mine. =)

  30. Wow most of these are really awesome! Def. saved some for ideas! I am wondering why Brittany W submitted some of those in the first set because they look like she put polish on, and then wiped her nails on a towel!

  31. hmm the random generator failed in terms of number 1 (ist place). It's a creative design but it's a bit messy esp around the nail.
But even if the author of the blog had to choose based on skill, judging from the large number of entries and the ubber creative designs it would be HARD.
