It's in My Jeans...

Day 109

Ok, so in theory, these nails are fun and cool and shit, in practice, and let me tell you I PRACTICED, they didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. The process was to paint the nail the dark blue and when it was almost dry, press a piece of jean material onto the paint to leave an indentation that I would later paint with a lighter blue... like jeans? Not so much. lol every time I pressed the jean into the paint, it smeared, and I'd have to repaint the nail and start the process over. ARGH! :-P Anyway, I wasn't about to give up... and finally managed to get all 10 nails done, and mind you, they're not perfect, but I tried...thats what counts, right?!

I used Charlotte Russe nail polish in Rocker as a base, with the jeans pressed into it, and Essie Sag Harbor brushed with dry brush against the grooves from the jean. For the copper rivets, I used Urban Vibe nail polish in Charged from Wet Seal, for the seams, I used China Glaze Liquid Leather, and Diamond Cosmetics #319 Lemon Yellow Zest
for the stitching. For the Levi's tag, I used China Glaze Salsa with China Glaze White on White for the lettering.

Hope you like? :-P

  2. Don't worry about being perfect all the time. Sometime even a smeared nail could look like a new design. Like this one.If you didn't have a title for it. I still think it's a rad style. :-) Take care and look forward to spring. lol from your Oregon viewer.

  4. What were you thinking? You SHOULD have just given up and done something different. And these commenters? I swear, they're blind.

    1. WRONG!
They are great! Could you even paint nails without painting your skin?

    I think they look awesome!

  9. First of all, they DO look like twice washed, new Levi's 501's. Second, I'm so glad that you tagged them with Levi's because I am old school and I really want Levi's to succeed in this current business climate. I love them, and I've always loved them, and I hope they're around forever. The yellow stitching and the rivet rock!
And alas, your evil troll seems to be back, so I'll congratulate YOU for being so fantastic that you've drawn an anonymous (read:chickenshit) troll. It takes a wonderful blog to draw a troll, because trolls only show up in popular spots. (that's where they know they'll be seen...) And trolls that choose to be anonymous are a sorry lot, as they can dish it out, but they can't take it. Worms. Pay them no mind! You are wonderful; and those of us who have a modicum of intelligence can see that. Those who can't... are trolls...

  10. Rita - have to chuckle - I am from Michigan and our upper peninsula and lower are separated by the Mackinaw bridge - those who live in the lower peninsula (below the bridge) are jokingly called trolls!!! Most of us are nice trolls though!! and love these nails and the blog :)

  11. Anonymous- LOL! Actually, my husband was reading over my shoulder as I wrote that, and said the very same thing! He was a "U.P.er" for about 10 years! (and he hates the cold, so go figure!) I never knew of the Michigan trolls.....hilarious! You are a very nice anonymous troll, for sure! ; )
